    Razor Knife

    • A razor knife is important because it is the first tool used when you are replacing damaged caulk. Razor knives, or carpet cutters, are sharp-tipped blades that allow you to cut into the old caulk and to remove it cleanly without damaging the other structures.

    Caulk Gun

    • The tube of caulk is placed inside the gun. Then you pull the the trigger of the gun, using your four fingers. The caulk gun is a little longer than the tube. It has a plunger in the end near the trigger. The plunger is in the back of the tube. The rod of the plunger has notches on the bottom that advance it as you pull the trigger. The front of the gun has a hole that you place through the tip and hold securely.

    Tip Applicators

    • Tip applicators allow for you to run different size beads of caulk for different gaps. These add-ons fit over the tip of the caulk tube and allow for one cut on the tube. The value is that you eliminate the need to open to open a new caulk tube for a smaller bead.

    Finishing Tool

    • The finishing tool is a small piece of plastic about three inches square. It has different size edges on each corner and will allow you to smooth the caulk out in an even pattern. This eliminates using your finger, which can be inconsistent. The tool also gives you better corners since it is flat on the ends. This eliminates missed spots and the possibility of water seeping through.
