    Vibrant Paper Mosaic

    • Kids can help you make a vibrantly hued mosaic made from magazine pages and a few simple craft items. The eco-friendly paper project will teach children the importance of recycling while adding a pop of color to any wall in your home. Gather magazine pages featuring eye-catching colors such as turquoise, bright yellow, cherry red, emerald green and sapphire blue. Cut the colorful paper into little squares and have kids draw a design, such as a bird or heart, on the back of a paper plate. Mix craft glue with water to create a sealant mixture. Dot the design with glue and place the paper squares on top to create an artistic stained glass-inspired look. Brush the top of the paper design with the glue and water mixture to seal the squares in place.

    Holiday-Inspired Wreath

    • You can create easy-to-make paper wreaths to reflect any holiday using craft items. Hang the festive wreaths on doors to great guests into holiday parties. Cut the center out of a paper plate or create a wreath shape out of a piece of card stock or poster board. Cut colorful paper into decorative shapes to create a themed wreath. For instance, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to trace patterns onto red and pink construction paper. Glue the hearts all around the wreath base to create Valentine's Day decor. To make a Halloween-inspired wreath, use pumpkin, ghost and bat stencils along with orange, white and black construction paper. Tie a piece of yarn or ribbon through the middle of the wreath for hanging.

    Paper Petals

    • When you can't get the real things, paper petals will look just as decorative as fresh blooms. You can customize the papery flowers to match any room in your home. Choose a bare tree branch from your backyard or a park. Cut several 1-inch squares of pink, red, yellow or any other tissue paper color you desire. Cut 1-inch squares out of green tissue paper and cut them in half to create triangles. Use a glue stick to attach one green paper triangle to each pink square. Create blossom shapes by twisting the green and pink squares, pink side in, around a pencil point. Slip the blossoms off the pencil and dot the insides with a bit of craft glue. Slide the paper buds all over the branches to create an exotic, Asian-inspired decor piece. Place the end of the branch into a tall and skinny vase and display it on a shelf or table.
