How to Remove Files from a Portable MP3 Player
- 1). Attach the MP3 player to your computer. Some portable MP3 players have an internal "flip" style USB jack; if yours does, you can use this to attach it to the computer.
If your MP3 player does not have an internal USB connection, use the cable that came with the device to attach it to the computer. - 2). Open your "My Computer" folder, or click "Start" and select "Computer." Look for a device labeled "Removable." Double-click on the removable drive to open it. This is the drive for your MP3 player.
- 3). Click on the folder labeled "Music" or "Media." In this folder, you'll find the songs (or videos) on your MP3 player. If you want to delete a file, highlight it with your mouse, right-click and select "Delete."
If you want to transfer it to your computer, click on the file and drag it to your desktop (you can also right-click "Copy," and then paste it on your desktop or into another folder). - 4). Scroll your mouse over the notification task bar (bottom-right part of screen). Look for an item with a green mark, titled "USB." Right-click this icon and click "Safely Remove." Wait until your system tells you it's safe to remove the cable.
