How to Stream iTunes to Your Home Stereo
- 1). Attach a TRS-to-RCA cable from your computer to your home stereo speakers. You can purchase TRS-to-RCA cables from most electronics stores. Insert the TRS (stereo 1/8-inch male) end of the cable into the computer's headphone jack. The headphone (or speaker) port is typically green, and you can find it on the back of most desktop computers and on the side or front of most laptop computers.
Connect the two male plugs of the RCA end of the cable to the "L" and "R" input jacks on the back of your stereo receiver. These ends are often red and white and correspond to red and white ports on the back of the stereo receiver. - 2). Change the stereo mode function to "Line In" or "Aux" to allow your stereo to output sound from your computer. There is typically a "mode" button found directly on your stereo or stereo remote to change this function.
- 3). Launch iTunes. Click the iTunes icon from your desktop or list of applications from the "Start" menu. Select the playlist of your choice and double-click the first song to begin streaming to your stereo.
