Before and during a construction project, there are several factors that need be to addressed accurately.
The moisture content at the site is one such important factor.
Moisture plays a pivotal part in the rock-solid structuring of a construction.
The level of wetness should be checked rightly, before commencement of the project.
Further, concrete, which is commonly known as cement mixture, also stands as the foremost important construction material.
Since a single test does not explore all the qualities and aspects of cement and moisture, the moisture tester try to evaluate the same through different machine and methods.
Listed below are some of the popular machine tools, used for testing quality of the concrete and the moisture content in a given concrete slab - Moisture Meter - These devices are useful for testing the humidity level on the concrete or gypsum floor surface.
They measure the percentage of water in a given concrete surface.
By using this kind of equipment, it could be easily calculated whether or not the surface is ready for further the construction.
Resistance Meter Technique For Checking The Moisture Content - In this method, direct electric current passes through the two metal pins pushed into the surface.
To check the moisture content, the testers review the amount of resistance between the two pins.
Vicat Machine - Automatic Vicats evaluate the initial as well as the final settling time of the cement mortar.
The tools provide automatic and precise results, after installation over the floor surface.
Gillmore Needle Device - Also known as Gillmore Needle Apparatus, this device tests the settling time of mortar prepared from hydraulic, Portland, and masonry cement.
Flow Table Test - The test is performed with a specifically designed equipment, Flow Table.
The test determines the consistency of the concrete mortar.
Checking the consistency of cement mixture is essential; since without the proper consistency, the structure will have uneven qualities and standards.
There are present both manual and electronic flow table devices.
Most importantly, before laying the floor, and after the surfacing of some signs of moisture, the source of excess dampness is found and removed.
Though, surplus moisture and dryness should be treated well on a floor and slab, but the pretense of moisture in toughening and hardening a concrete slab can never be overlooked.
After placing the concrete slab efforts are made to maintain its wetness, to stop the water from evaporating from the slab.
The wetness makes it attain the firm and sound state.
