How to Stop on Inline Hockey Skates

    • 1). Start the slide. Turn in a tight circle with your knees bent and weight shifted forward. You should start to slide on the road surface perpendicular to your original path of travel.

    • 2). Pivot your inside foot sharply away from your original direction of travel while turning. The wheels of this skate should continue rolling, but now be turning backwards.

    • 3). Hold your outside foot at a sharp angle to the road, allowing it to slide. Keep the outside of the skate facing your original direction (perpendicular). Most of your weight should be on your inside leg.

    • 4). Control the slide and stop. Straighten your inner pivot leg, shifting your weight to the outer leg and reducing the angle to the road. The faster you shift pressure from you inner leg to your outer leg, the faster you will stop the slide.
