How to Remove Notebook Memory
- 1). Shut down the laptop and unplug the power cord.
- 2). Close the laptop's screen and then flip the laptop over so that you are looking at the bottom of the computer.
- 3). Locate the random access memory slot cover on the bottom of your laptop. The cover's location and size will vary from one laptop to another. On some laptops, it will be a small cover that is about the size of a deck of cards, while on others the cover may span a significant portion of the computer and cover other internal parts along with the RAM.
- 4). Unscrew the memory slot cover and set it aside. The screws holding on the cover will likely require a small, precision screwdriver. The RAM modules will be readily visible when you remove the cover.
- 5). Grasp the plastic ejector clips on both sides of the RAM module with the index finger and thumb on each hand and gently pull them away from the RAM module. The module will pop up and be loose in the slot. Gently grasp the module and remove it from the slot.
- 6). Repeat Step 5 for additional RAM modules, if necessary.
