Writing is a Tragic Profession

Writing is a tragic profession.
It really is sad.
I really admire everyone who, after experiencing all the drama and agony, they choose to remain a writer.
A profession that is more sad and more thankless thank being a monk.
Unlike most professions, writing entails that the writer go through a really deep and intimate experience with nothing.
Yes, with nothing.
Whatever the writer puts down is not real even if they are based on true characters.
In order to create a solid story, you will have to give birth to all these characters and know them so well you will be able to tell the contents of their bags.
You become attach to them as you begin to like them, love them, fight with them, argue with them, make up with them and finally, be one with them, You come up with situations, first to make the movie or novel or show interesting for the audience.
You will create problems and hurdles for the characters in order to make the solving of the problem difficult.
Eventually, though, you will have to go through the journey with the characters and suffer each pain with them.
Remember that you take on the emotions of each character and not just one.
The even more difficult part is that you can't stop it at will even if you are the creator.
Imagine the amount of heartaches and pains and miseries that you will go through as you complete the journey of the characters.
If you are really unfortunate, the ending isn't even what you like.
Then you carry your sadness through your lifetime.
The only consolation is for you to see your work come to life.
The problem is that you will not.
For movies and TV, the director and the producers get the final say.
They will have to dissect everything you just wrote.
If they are unhappy with what you wrote, you will have to change it to satisfy them.
That is like asking you to commit suicide.
