How to Get Salt and Snow Off Hardwood Floors
- 1). Measure and pour 1 cup of white distilled vinegar into a medium-sized bucket. According to Keene State College, vinegar has the power to remove mineral deposits, such as those left behind by the rock salt.
- 2). Add 1 gallon of water and 1 cup of vegetable oil to the vinegar. Stir to combine the ingredients.
- 3). Mop the hardwood floor with the homemade cleaner where you notice any tracked-in snow and salt. Wring out the mop completely each time you rinse it in the bucket. Too much water can cause hardwood to warp.
