Vulkem 116 Caulk Specifications
- Vulkem 116 is a polyurethane sealant manufactured by Tremco. It was designed to be used on concrete, masonry and construction joints such as door or window casings. It is suitable for outdoor use but can be used indoors, provided that the area is properly ventilated. Vulkem 116 meets all applicable standards, including ASTM C 920 and the USDA regulation for indirect food contact.
- The extrusion rate, or the rate at which the caulk can be moved with pressure, is 40 to 50 ml per minute. Vulkem 116 acquires a skin after six hours and is not tacky after 30 hours. The tensile strength of the caulk is 250 psi and it allows movement forward or backward of 25 percent.
- Vulkem 116 comes in several different package sizes. For caulking guns, it comes in a 10.1 ounce cartridge. It is also available in 20-ounce sausages, 2- and 5-gallon pails and a 55-gallon drum. For joints that are 1/4-by-1/4 inch, Vulkem 116 will cover 308 linear feet. These joints may be vertical or horizontal and should be large enough to allow four times the expected movement, but they should be at least 1/4 inch wide.
- Vulkem 116 is available in 16 colors. These colors range from white and natural clay to black and bronze. Other colors include almond, aluminum, anodized aluminum, buff, grey, dark bronze, ivory, limestone, redwood tan, beige, stone and aluminum stone.
