Does the Junk Food Diet Work?

103 2
I find it very interesting when someone experiments with specific ways of eating to help prove a point.
There are so many diets to choose from if you are seeking a way to lose weight.
Diets vary from eating meat, not eating meat, low-carb, no-carb, and so many more.
Well, you may or may not have already heard about the junk food diet that helped a professor lose 27 pounds.
This professor did the diet as an experiment.
His diet consisted of eating some type of snack cake (Twinkies for example) every 3 hours.
He also consumed chips, sugary cereal, and cookies.
Besides all of the junk, he supplemented with a multivitamin, vegetables, and a protein shake on a daily basis.
What was the point of this experiment? The professor wanted to make a point that calories play a more important role in weight loss than what you eat.
Amazingly enough, he had great results losing 27 lbs, lowering his bad cholesterol and increasing his good cholesterol, as well as lowering his body mass index.
Surprisingly, when he ate healthier, he ate more calories.
You may think, "great, I can eat junk and lose weight!" Not so fast.
Even though he lost weight eating this way, the experiment couldn't conclude that the outcomes were healthy.
There are no answers for what long-term results would occur.
Monitoring calories, getting your calories from better quality foods, and physical activity are still the best ways to help with weight loss.
Our bodies will surely benefit from natural food rather than processed food over the long term.
