1. Dusty

Dusty is a single-prop crop duster plane. He's not usually the type you'd associate with high speed and power, but he's got big dreams. Dusty wants to be a competitive air racer. You can see the challenge he's up against, but that's not all. Nope. Dusty is also afraid of heights. But, with a little help from his friends, Dusty might just be able to learn a thing or two about soaring to heights he never imagined.

2. Skipper

Skipper is the Doc Hudson of the Planes movie. In Cars, Doc's past failure keeps him from moving forward. Such is the story with Skipper. He is a Navy Corsair fighter jet. He was an ace flier and top instructor of the Jolly Wrenches squadron, but an accident during a combat mission left him grounded for life. Now, old Skipper is a bit of a recluse. That is, until the pesky little crop-duster Dusty comes nosing around asking for flying advice. Skipper gives Dusty lessons, but what he doesn't realize, is that he has a few lessons to learn himself.

3. Chug

Chug plays an important role in the world of Planes. He's a fuel truck, and along with Dottie, he co-owns Chug and Dottie's Fill 'n Fly service station. Chug is a bold guy with a big personality. He works hard. He plays hard. And he also has heart. He is Dusty's coach and biggest fan, and Chug is determined to help Dusty make his dreams come true.

4. Dottie

Dottie is a forklift and co-owner of Chug and Dottie's Fill 'n Fly service station. She's a loyal friend and an ace mechanic, and she keeps Dusty in top shape. She also tries to keep him grounded in reality as he soars to greater heights. Dottie will always have Dusty's back, but she doesn't want him to do something dangerous or have his hopes dashed.

5. Leadbottom

Leadbottom is an old biplane who is described as "a real tank-half-empty kind of guy." He is the owner of Vitaminamulch, a "special" blend of vitamins, minerals and mulch that makes crops happy. A grumbling taskmaster who's all work and no play, Leadbottom doesn't have time for Dusty and his dreams.

6. Bravo & Echo

Bravo & Echo are the best of the best. Two of the top troops in the Jolly Wrenches squadron, Bravo and Echo have incredible aerial skills and stellar intuition. They are also huge racing fans. The two take Dusty under their wings, and he has just as much respect for the Jolly Wrenches insignia as they do.

7. Ripslinger

The king of air racing, Ripslinger is every racing wannabe's hero. But, he's not a very heroic guy. Despite his state-of-the-art equipment, myriad fans and his slick and squeaky clean look, Ripslinger plays dirty. He doesn't appreciate a nobody like Dusty flying in on his territory, and if Dusty ever had the slightest chance of winning, Ripslinger would happily make sure his dreams came crashing down around him.

8. Ned & Zed

If you can't beat 'em, beat 'em up. Ned and Zed are team Ripslinger's specialists in sabotage. Since they can't win races themselves, they just take the easy way and eliminate the competition. That way, Ripslinger is guaranteed to win every time. Zed's rowdy and reckless ways haven't caught up to him yet, and Ned hasn't had to fess up to his crimes either, but hopefully one day they'll get what they deserve.

9. Rochelle

Rochelle is a focused contender and the pride of the Great White North. She got her taste for speed while running mail to small towns in Quebec. Ever resourceful, she picked up a lot of home remedies for mechanic maladies along the way. Now, though, she only has one goal in mind: winning. Though the charming Mexican racer El Chupacabra has her in his sights, she won't be swayed from her greatest love, which is racing.

10. El Chupacabra

A real Mexican Don Juan, El Chupacabra (or El Chu) is passionate about racing, and about the lovely Rochelle. Is this caped Casanova with a flair for the dramatic as good as he claims? That remains to be seen.

One thing is for sure: he seems like a lover, but his name indicates that he's out for blood. The actual meaning of his name likely has little bearing on the movie, but it is interesting to know what El Chupacabra actually means. El Chupacabra is a cryptid rumored to inhabit parts of Mexico and Puerto Rico. Literally, Chupacabra means "goat sucker." You can find out all about the legendary Chupacabra here, but it's probably not a link you want to share with the kiddos. Thankfully, the Disney/Pixar plane is much more comical and less of a supernatural mystery.

11. Ishani

An exotic racer from India and Pan-Asian champion, Ishani is a mysterious and talented competitor. Her high speed and prowess have earned her over a billion fans. She's always full of surprises.

12. Bulldog

The venerable Bulldog is a racer who remembers the days before GPS. He believes that the quality of a racer comes down to two things: good flying and sportsmanship. A lot of the high-fliers could learn a thing or two from this wise old plane and solid racer. Despite his getting on in years, Bulldog is still keeping up with the pack.
