• Before you begin planning a quinceanera, it is important to determine the overall budget for the event and how much of the budget will go to certain aspects, such as food or entertainment. Location

• Most quinceanera ceremonies take place at a church, while the reception takes place at a banquet or church hall. When you begin to plan a quinceanera, you must determine how many guests will attend, to narrow down reception locations. The location needs to be spacious enough for guests, the required number of tables and chairs, live entertainment or a dance floor. Within one year of the event, begin looking at sites to determine which one best suits your needs so you can make reservations for the day you want.
  
  

Entertainment

• Whether you want to have dancing to a live band or a DJ at your quinceanera, start looking through your entertainment options at least a year in advance. The entertainment must fit within the budget and be reserved for the day of the celebration. If you are on a budget, a DJ is the cheapest option, while a live band is typically more expensive. The cost of entertainment may also depend on the day or season the quinceanera takes place.
  
  

Decorations

• Decorations turn any location into a festive, inviting space. Within four to six months of the event, pick out flowers, tablecloths, chairs and any other equipment you need. If you choose to pass out favors to the guests, pick them out around the same time you decide on the decor. Table centerpieces range in price depending on what you select, with flowers often being the most expensive. If you are on a budget, simple centerpieces such as candles are inexpensive and guests can take them home at the end of the reception.
