Easy Carnival Dunk Booth Ideas
- Provided you can sweet-talk one into it, an authority figure is perhaps the most lucrative person to put into a dunk booth. For a school fundraiser, consider putting a popular teacher or even the principal on the bench -- and watch students and former students line up around the block. For churches, ask an easygoing pastor or a Sunday school teacher to take the plunge. Other options include police officers, local city officials, coaches (this is especially effective for sports team fundraisers) and other people in positions of authority.
- Sports team fundraisers can also be well-served by putting the team mascot in the dunk tank. This is, of course, not viable if water will damage the mascot costume, but if the costume is durable, kids and adults alike will have a great time trying to get the Fighting Thunderbird or Brave Bronco all wet. This goes for school mascots as well. Expand your fundraising abilities by including uniformed athletes and cheerleaders in the category of mascots.
- Perhaps both the easiest and the cheapest way to make a dime at a dunk booth fundraiser is to put a buxom woman or attractive man in a white T-shirt or swimsuit in the dunk booth. Unlike the previous two ideas, this requires an accurate assessment of the majority of your customers. Will your carnival be attended by men or women in larger numbers? You may not wish to risk offending a large number of the carnival's attendees, even if you are trying to provide entertainment and raise money for a worthy cause.
- For a more citywide fundraiser, invite local celebrities, such as news anchors, radio personalities and even the mayor to sit in the dunk tank. There are certainly people in your town who will jump at the chance to get someone they see on television every night all wet. See if there happens to be a reality television alumnus living in your town. Though many charge for public appearances, some may waive their fee for a good cause.
- For a more offbeat dunk tank -- perhaps at a storybook-themed carnival -- have people dress up as fictional villains and allow children to take a whack at dunking them. Many small children would love to see Cruella de Ville, Captain Hook or the Big Bad Wolf get soaked.
