How to Restore the Shine on a Countertop
- 1). Shine granite countertops using a specialized granite polish and a soft cloth. Rub a small amount of polish onto the countertop until it looks hazy. Then use a clean cloth to polish the hazy area and bring out the shine of the countertop.
- 2). Restore the shine of laminate countertops using wax made for laminates. Rub the wax onto the counter with one cloth, then wipe it off with a second cloth. This will not only restore the shine of your laminate countertop, but it will help to protect it from spills and hot objects.
- 3). Use a wet polisher to shine concrete countertops. Use an aggressive pad on the polisher to expose the aggregate of the countertop, and then a much finer polishing pad to return a bright shine to the concrete. Some manufacturers offer kits that have up to seven pads meant to be used in a specific order to maximize the shine of your concrete countertop.
- 4). Polish stainless steel counter tops using a spray-on stainless steel cleaner. Use a soft cloth and gently wipe down the surface of the counter with a small amount of cleaner. Avoid scrubbing with brushes and abrasive pads to keep from scratching the steel.
