Select molds for the jewelry. You can buy special molds for jewelry making or you can use homemade molds. Some items to consider for homemade jewelry molds include small seashells; small, flat medicine bottle caps; metal pop bottle caps or candy-making molds. You can also make your own disposable molds from cardboard. If you use a cardboard mold, cover the inside with durable waterproof tape. - 2). Coat the inside of the mold with mold release. This product keeps molding materials from sticking inside the mold. Apply either spray-on mold release or gel-type mold release, which can be spread on with your fingertips or a wooden craft stick. Be sure to generously coat the inside of the mold, covering all corners and small crevices.
- 3). Insert the tube of caulking into the gun and slide the handle forward again without pressing on the trigger. Use the razor blade or utility knife to cut the plastic tip of the caulk tube at a 45-degree angle, making the smallest cut possible to ensure a thin application. Unbend the paper clip and insert it into the hole in the plastic applicator until you have pierced the foil seal inside the tip.
- 4). Hold the caulk gun over a sheet of newspaper. Squeeze the trigger until you see the caulk enter the tip of the tube. In order to stop the caulk from flowing out of the tube, turn the handle 90 degrees. Practice while holding the caulk gun over the paper until you feel comfortable starting and stopping the flow of the caulk from the gun.
- 5). Fill the jewelry molds with caulk. Use a craft stick to smooth the surface. Lightly press the desired decorations into the wet caulk. Let dry for 24 hours.
- 6). Use the paper clip or nail to press a hole for attaching the wire, clasp or other jewelry supplies to the finished piece. The caulk will dry firm, but it will also remain pliable enough to allow you to pierce the surface without damaging the piece.
