What Is a Portable Frac Tank?
- Hydraulic fracturing is a method used when drilling for natural gas. After a well is drilled, water and/or sand is pumped into it to create pressure. In areas with dense ground such as shale or sand, this process fractures the ground and allows more gas to escape.
- In order to carry out the fracturing process, a tank is needed to transport the liquid used to pump the well. When the water is treated with additional substances such as diesel or sand, containment becomes even more important.
- In order to make the fracturing process simpler, portable frac tanks were developed so pump water and waste water would not need to be transferred between multiple containers to be transported. They are also sometimes used to transport chemicals and other hazardous materials.
