There are numerous individuals who choose to lead eco-friendly lives by conserving energy, reducing carbon emissions and recycling. Schools, nonprofit organizations and other groups are implementing projects to safeguard the environment. Many of these project ideas require funding for proper execution. Luckily, there are several funding sources that support and advocate green ideas. - Green America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to tackling environmental issues, offers grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 to groups initiating eco-friendly projects or programs, according to Green America. Project include bicycling initiatives for low-income youth or urban community gardens. For funding consideration, a group requires nomination by an outside entity. If the group acquires a nomination for the top-10 category, then the Green America staff members vote on the projects. Nominations generally occur annually in June, and voters can select their choice of project in mid-July each year.
