How to Save a Desktop Screen
- 1). Close all open windows so that only the desktop is on the computer screen. Click on a blank portion of the desktop.
- 2). Press the "Print Screen," "PRTSC" or "PrintScreen/SysRq" at the top right part of the keyboard. The exact button depends on the computer you own. The desktop picture is saved to the computer's memory, called the computer's "clipboard."
- 3). Open the graphics program of your choice.
- 4). Click on the blank document inside the graphics program.
- 5). Press the keyboard keys "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously. The desktop screen appears on the blank document.
- 6). Click "File" at the top of the graphics program. Choose "Save As." A window appears. Enter a name for the desktop screen file inside the "File Name" box at the bottom of the window. Choose a location for the desktop screen file (for example, "Desktop") inside the center of the window. Click "Save" to save the desktop screen file in the selected location.
- 1). Close all open programs. Click on any blank part of the desktop.
- 2). Press the "Command," "Ctrl," "Shift" and "3" keyboard keys simultaneously. The desktop screen is saved to the computer's clipboard.
- 3). Open a graphics program installed on the computer.
- 4). Click on a part of the blank document inside the graphics program. Press both the "Command" and "V" keyboard keys. The desktop screen appears on the document.
- 5). Click "File," and select "Save As." Save the file as described in Step 6 of Section 1. The desktop screen file saves onto the computer.
