Why Did We Do Away With the Draft for All Young Men?
It has been my belief for many years that when the draft was done away with, we lost the one thing that helped a great many young adults to gain discipline, self respect, maturity, self control, and the self confidence to go out and build a life for themselves.
Now we have a generation of government dependent people who are content to sit home and collect welfare, food stamps, government handouts and the inability to get educated and have a good work ethic.
Today we have the problem of absent fathers, divorced parents, single moms who have to work, and kids are left to grandparents or social programs that have never worked, and kids losing family ties to each other.
Gangs roaming our inner cities with police being handcuffed from directly enforcing the laws, illegals roaming all over America taking jobs from men and women and law enforcement unable to arrest and deport them on orders from our so called leader, who seems to be running for the office of King.
Our vacationing, fund raising, president has his own ideas about how to govern this country and it seems to be the opposite of what most presidents have done in the past.
Even John F Kennedy was working very hard to lower taxes for EVERYONE regardless of income to get his economy going again.
He was fighting his own party to get them to lower taxes and if you don't believe me, go back and read it for yourself.
In 1963 he was fighting hard to lower taxes.
The draft has many good qualities to recommend it to be adopted for future generations to give them purpose, direction, discipline, and to try and form another great generation of mature adults to take responsibility for themselves and their families.
Right now we have a leaderless, uneducated, immature youth who cannot develop the qualities needed to grow and develop into a new generation.
We need special help within the black inner cities to give the youth better opportunities for jobs and especially training for those jobs.
The inner cities school systems are very badly run because of union demanded work rules that make it almost impossible to fire bad teachers and administrators.
The fact that the military services have been turning down people trying to enter because of their inability to pass entry tests is deplorable.
The education of our youth has shown dropping scores for many years and we are below most civilized nations like China, India, Europe and many others.
Our test score are steadily dropping against others.
We must make vouchers available to every parent that wants them and give the money that goes with them to schools that meet strict requirements by local standards in every state.
The experienced people coming out of the military can be taught to teach under the GI Bill and given first choice in teaching positions.
They can also be used as armed guards just like retired police officers in schools across America to curb the violence against our children.
That these things are being allowed by our nonexistent mental health system, that gives these people, when they are brought into a hospital, a few pills and discharges them back into society without aftercare or followups of any kind.
Their are tens of thousands of mentally ill people roaming this nation that have nowhere to turn to, to receive help and treatment.
All the politicians can do is scream for gun control, as if would do any good at all.
We need our veterans to be able to take jobs with the maturity and skills they learn in the military to take positions in civilian life that are going to outsiders and illegals.
The men and women of what we call the ( Greatest Generation ) is the one we had during the years of the draft.
The military has always been the place for youth to learn skills they do not learn in schools as well as gain maturity by taking responsibility for themselves and others.
The dismantling of the draft system in America has given rise to a loss of responsible youth that has no direction or positive purpose or maturity that comes with military service.
I am a former Marine who learned how to use weapons with training and respect for the responsibility that goes with owning a weapon.
The cities that have the strictest gun laws have the most crimes committed with guns.
The greatest Generation learned things in the service that you just cannot learn anywhere else.
The first thing an overbearing government tries to do, is take people's guns away, so the people cannot resist when dictators try and gain control over the people.
The founders knew this and made it law to let people bear arms against any tyrannical form of government or leaders trying to grab power and take over in a coup.
That is why we need a large population of veterans who know how to keep anything like that from happening.
The draft and military trained youth gain in every way towards a mature population.
Responsible to themselves and their country so they can take jobs and do them well and become our future leaders and businessmen and women to run this nation.
I believe that the only way we can create a responsible, mature, educated generation again is to train them in military fashion to gain discipline and confidence, and a level of maturity not available in today's world.
Government is almost totally socialist oriented and promises cradle to grave care for those unwilling to work and get ahead by their own efforts.
Socialist societies have failed everywhere they have been tried and people just keep trying to make it work.
It always runs out of other peoples money and they keep on trying to get more and more taxes from people who are being forced to work part time of under a 30 hour work week under Obama care.
Unions and other groups are up in arms trying to get waivers to opt out of Obama care and asking to get subsidies and it is working out to be a fantastic mess that may never get straightened out and will bankrupt the nation trying to make it work.
Young people between ages of 18 to 35 will be the hardest hit with taxes and fee's amounting to at least half of all earned income.
The young people of America have not received an education that prepares them for work in almost any way.
It is all about the system brainwashing them to submit to the government controlling them in all aspects of their lives.
The subjects taught in schools today does not prepare them for the real world and the real problems they will face with all the new rules and regulations being spewed out by government offices in every7 department of a bloated bureaucracy.
I seem to have gotten away from my main point about the draft being brought back to an undisciplined and soft generation that needs toughening up and maturity.
I believe that it may well be the best way to develop strengths of character in our younger generation and teach them that they can do whatever they want to with hard work and stamina to finish what they start.
We can also protect this country with a well trained militia ready to take on any job as we did after Pearl Harbor.
We had gotten soft between wars but we had a system in place to train men and women to get the jobs done in and out of the services.
We need people who can handle guns safely and without fear when the time arises.
A well trained population of people is the ONLY protection we have against a tyrannical government run away with its own power hungry men and women trying to grab power for themselves.
We have people trying to start a New World Order under the UN, the most corrupt organization in the world.
If we get a generation of ex service members who become parents, who get their children into schools that really teach them, and make them graduate into the military or college and keep parents together, we may someday grow our way back into a two parent society that forces schools to really teach and gets rid of teachers who just want a salary until retirement.
We need parents who get involved in school boards and make things work and stop the unions from protecting bad teachers and get them out.
This will not be done quickly but over the years with people in Washington who really care.
Term limits is another story I will write about as a separate issue.
God Bless America.
