How to Install Transition Strips for Laminate Flooring
- 1). Measure the length of transition strip needed. Cut the transition trim track at this length with your snips.
- 2). Place the transition strip trim track on the floor next to the adjoining floor surface. Leave a 1/4-inch gap between the trim track and the other floor surface. Screw the trim track to the subfloor using a cordless drill and the provided screws.
- 3). Install your laminate flooring. Leave a 1/4-inch gap between the edge of the flooring and the trim track.
- 4). Cut the transition strip to the correct length with your miter saw.
- 5). Position the transition strip over the track you installed previously. Place a cloth over the top of the track and gently hammer it into place. It will click into the track below.
- 6). Work your way down the rest of the strip, finishing hammering the strip into the track.
