Christmas is a wonderful time of year where people are inspired to decorate their houses, bringing brightness into the depths of winter. A fun craft to do with your children is creating Styrofoam cone trees. With these beautiful trees, you can decorate the mantle, the dining room table or any room in the house. - Paint a Styrofoam cone green. Make sure you paint the cone thoroughly. You may find that you have to apply more than one coat of paint. Pick out colored glass pebbles, found at craft stores or dollar stores. Apply jewelery glue to the back of the colored pebbles and press them onto the Styrofoam cone so that they resemble ornaments on the tree.
- Collect a number of pine cones. The exact number of pine cones depend on the size of your Styrofoam cone. Paint the Styrofoam cone green. Try to coat it evenly, so no white shows beneath the paint. Glue pine cones onto the Styrofoam cone so that it's completely covered, or as completely covered as you can manage, with the pine cones.
- This tree is lavish and shiny, and will probably be a favorite for the kids. Cover a Styrofoam cone with felt. Pick out an assortment of jewel beads, chenille ribbon, gold sequins and anything else that resembles miniature Christmas tree ornaments. These are available at craft stores or bead shops. Glue the ribbon to the Styrofoam cone like a garland, winding it around the tree like the stripes on a candy cane. Glue on the jewels and sequins in whatever design you choose. It's not possible to have too much.
