    DBA Function

    • The DBA conducts the audit of database catalogs, structures and files by using system logs and reports which print out the schematics of the database and by using automated tools to check the integrity of data structures.

    Effects

    • Faulty database files and catalogs can be corrected manually. The effect of a damaged structure or database pointer is much more complicated and can cause database errors in reading structures. Corrupted pointers, which join relational databases, can cause several records not to be updated.

    • Audit reporting concerning databases in data processing environment is actually a daily activity. DBAs are responsible for monitoring daily system logs for errors and inconsistencies. This also includes scheduling daily audit activities on various files and data structures.
