How to Cut Block Walls for Outlets
- 1). Check the location for the outlet before you begin the process of making the hole. Ensure that you don't make an unnecessary hole that will require a repair later on.
- 2). Hold the outlet box upside down against the wall in the chosen location and trace its edges with a pencil.
- 3). Hold the trigger part of a hammer drill in your dominant hand and place your other hand under the front just behind the hammer bit. Hold the drill at a 90-degree angle to the wall during the drilling process.
- 4). Squeeze the hammer drill's trigger and move it against the wall in the center of the outline you drew. Break up the block from the center of the outline to within 1/2-inch of the lines.
- 5). Break out the block closest to the lines with a hammer and a small chisel. Fit the outlet box into the hole and make minor adjustments to the hole, as needed, with the hammer and chisel.
