How to Cut Countertop Laminate After Gluing

    • 1). Glue the laminate of your choice to the sides of your countertop first. Once the glue has hardened use a laminate trimmer to trim around the edges of the laminate. A laminate trimmer is like a small router. The bit has a ball bearing guide. Keep the base flat to the surface and trim in a clockwise motion going around all four edges of each side.

    • 2). Apply laminate to the front edge of the countertop. Allow the glue to set up, and then trim the laminate in a clockwise motion to remove all of the excess laminate.

    • 3). Attach the top sheet of laminate to the top of the countertop. Remove any excess glue that may ooze out the sides (don't allow the glue to sit on the already installed laminate).

    • 4). Trim around the top laminate sheet. Keep the base of the trimmer flat to the surface.

    • 5). Make a hole in the laminate with a drill where the sink will be installed. There should already be a pre-cut hole in the countertop substrate at this location. Move the laminate trimmer through the laminate until it hits the pre-cut hole. Cut in a clockwise direction around the pre-cut hole and remove the excess laminate.
