Achieve Your Goals - How to Set & Plan For Goals
When you decide to set some goals for yourself, how do you go about doing it? What are you hoping to achieve? Many people fall into the trap of only setting goals they can accomplish.
Do you do this? Do you let your circumstances dictate what you can achieve? You need to remember that your circumstances are not your destiny in life, they are only your history.
Whether you realize it or not, you have what it takes to overcome those circumstances and become a great success.
Let's look at this for a minute.
I often stop and think to myself, am I setting my goals based on what I think I can and cannot do? I would encourage you to ask yourself the same question.
Are you only setting goals to do what you know you can do? Michelangelo once made the observation that as a general rule, we are not in danger of always setting high goals for our selves and failing.
We often set low goals, achieve them, and are robbed by the knowledge that we could have done better.
So, what exactly have we achieved if we set our goals low enough that we can achieve? Unfortunately, less than what are potential is.
Let's think for just a minute.
If we have set goals we know we can reach, what good have we done ourselves? If you aim for something you aren't sure you can reach and give it your best effort, you will accomplish much.
You may not reach exactly what you were planning to reach, but you will achieve some other great thing.
When you set a goal you are uncertain of, and you attain another goal, you have not failed.
You have taken a few steps that put you closer to reaching your original goal.
Take courage and don't quit, don't give up.
Great things are in store for those who try.
