Home Remedies for Ants
- Boiling water kills ants immediately. It can be poured into an ant hill to prevent ant infestation.Trace ants back to their ant hills to end the ant problem in your home.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of molasses, 1/4 cup of yeast and 1/4 cup of sugar and mix together. Place spoonfuls in each place you see ants. This non-toxic mixture will rid your home of ants.
- Salt is a natural deterrent for ants and other bugs. Pour salt borders to prevent ants from entering your home. Salt along door thresholds, window sills, walls and your home's foundation will deter the ants from entering your home.
- Borax is another ant insecticide. Borax can be sprinkled around your home's perimeter, or it can even be mixed with sugar and water to attract the ants to take the bait back to the ant hill.
- Vinegar is another home remedy for ants. Combine 2 cups of vinegar with 1 cup of water. Mix and place in a spray bottle. Spray this into all of your corners, along the window, doors, and anywhere ants find a way to enter your home.
- Peppermint and cloves are two herbs known to deter ants. Place some peppermint or cloves along the areas where you see ants. Other plants that deter ants include bay leaves, marigold, lavender, tansy and pennyroyal.
- Cinnamon is another ant deterrent. Sprinkle cinnamon along all the areas where ants were seen in your home.
