Flowers for Flower Girls

    Flowers for the Hair

    • A crown or headband of flowers looks adorable on a little girl. Choose bright, fun flowers for the girl, like dyed daisies. Be creative and add strands of flowers flowing down the back of the crown, or braid the flowers into the child's hair. You can also make flower barrettes for her to wear, complementing short or long hair. Try berry sprigs and craft pumpkins for a fall wedding, or fresh spring or summer blooms for those seasons. Winter lends itself to dried flower or herb barrettes or crowns.

    Flower Basket

    • The flower basket the child carries will hold the petals you want her to throw at the ceremony, but the basket itself can be adorned with flowers as well. Make a day of it with your flower girl and have her decorate her own basket with the flowers you provide. Fake flowers allow for the basket to be decorated beforehand, while fresh blooms will need extra care to stay fresh for the wedding. Add flowing ribbons to the basket or delicate bows and lace to complete the look.

    Bubble Flower Bouquet

    • Instead of the traditional flower basket, give your flower girl a bouquet of flowers wrapped around a jar of bubbles, which she can blow as she walks down the aisle. Get a large container of bubbles and a bubble wand. Choose long-stemmed and large flowers. Wrap the flowers and bubbles in florist tape and cover with ribbons or lace. Make sure that the bubble wand is easily accessible through the blooms but also hidden. Add food coloring to the bubble solution, matching the flowers chosen, to give the illusion of the bubbles being created from the flowers.

    Flower Accents and Accesories

    • The flower girl's dress can also be adorned with flowers. Glue fresh blooms or fake flowers onto a long, thick strand of ribbon for a flower belt that can tie in the back. Make flower pins that can attach to the dress on the shoulders or around the neckline. Choose a costume jewelry ring band and attach a bloom to it, or make a bracelet of blooms for the child to wear. Small buds lend themselves perfectly to a necklace or choker.
