How to Learn to Fly RCs
- 1). Look for a radio-controlled trainer airplane when you go to your local hobby store or shop online. Trainers are engineered for inexperienced flyers. The wings are located toward the top of the fuselage which provides extra stability for the plane. Read the entire instruction manual before attempting to fly the trainer airplane.
- 2). Familiarize yourself with the controls and what they do before you take your plane into the air. Understand the functions of the four major controls that operate from your transmitter: throttle, ailerons, elevators and rudder.
- 3). Find an open field or park to fly your radio-controlled trainer. Locate a flat surface for landings and takeoffs, such as a baseball field.
- 4). Start your airplane in accordance with the owner's manual. Line it up with your projected runway. Give the plane throttle and use the elevators to pull the plane off the ground. Learn how it reacts to various inputs. Land the plane slowly by lining it up with the runway, reducing throttle and putting the elevators in the downward position.
- 5). Practice as much as possible.
