With So Much Choice, How DO You Choose the Best Citrus Juicer For Your Needs?

Enjoying freshly-extracted citrus juices can be a delicious treat.
Citrus fruits include grapefruit, oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines and any combination - absolutely delicious but which is the best citrus juicer to buy? First, consider how often you want to use it and what quantity you expect to juice.
For example, if you want to enjoy a fresh orange juice each morning, perhaps use it when squeezing fresh lemons for recipes, and that is pretty much it, then you will not need a commercial, heavy-duty type unit.
Obviously a small household unit is much cheaper than a commercial model.
Citrus fruits have bitter rinds and so the whole fruit is not simply thrown into a juicer.
Rather the fruit is cut and then the juice extracted.
Often, reaming is the method of extraction.
In manual reaming, you turn and twist the reamer to crush the fruit.
If electric, it will point upward and you simply lower the fruit on the revolving reamer.
Presses are also used, in which case the fruit is simply placed into the press.
A manual citrus juicer relies on your power to run and come in various shapes and sizes.
A basic entry point might be a stainless-steel reamer for less than $20 which you manually revolve inside of the cut fruit to crush and extract the juice.
Not advised for anything other than occasional, minor juicing! A manual juicer that requires pressing and twisting would not be a good choice for someone with arthritis or who has difficulty using their hands.
A manual press that operate with a handle requires far less physical work and is very efficient.
These can range in price and design all the way up to mid-commercial models.
One plus point with manual models is that they are very quiet.
You won't wake the entire house up at 5:30 trying to make a glass of orange juice! There are many electric juicer models available and the obvious benefit is speed and ease of use.
If you want to extract any quantity of juice over a glass or two, go straight for the electric model! You can find electric reamers that are very affordable and will make quick work of juicing your favorite citrus fruits.
Squeezing lemons or limes for recipes can seem so wasteful by hand, but an electric reamer will get out all of the juice very quickly.
These models are generally easy to clean and most also offer pulp control and separate seeds and offer various size juice capacities, which impacts price.
If you plan on using your juicer daily or on doing moderate quantity, you will want to make an investment in a juicer that will be easy to use, have a quiet motor (if electric), and one that can stand up to repeated use.
Don't waste time on a flimsy model if you want to enjoy fresh-squeeze juice daily and provide a healthy alternative for your family.
There are many affordable citrus juicers on the market and the best citrus juicers are the ones that are used and not tucked away in the back of a cabinet.
If your citrus juicer is easy to use, you will use it more regularly.
The benefit of fresh, natural and healthy juice enjoyed frequently is the best return you can have on your investment in a citrus juicer.
