How to Make Your Own Lightstick
- 1). Mix 1 liter of distilled water and 50 ml of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide in a mixing bowl. Set the bowl aside in a safe place.
- 2). Measure 4 grams sodium carbonate, .4 grams copper sulfate pentahydrate and .2 grams luminol with a scale. Keep each ingredient in a separate glass bowl.
- 3). Mix one liter of distilled water and the sodium carbonate in a new mixing bowl. The sodium carbonate helps all of the ingredients mix and stick together.
- 4). Add the copper sulfate pentahydrate to the water and sodium carbonate. Stir the mixture with a glass stirring rod until the powder dissolves into the water.
- 5). Add the luminol to the solution. Stir it slowly with the glass rod until it dissolves.
- 6). Combine the hydrogen peroxide solution with the luminol solution. The liquid should immediately begin to glow.
- 7). Cut a piece of clear ¼-inch hose to a length of your choosing. The hose will act as the vessel for the glowing liquid.
- 8). Stick a rubber hose plug in one end of the hose to prevent the liquid from dripping out.
- 9). Stick a funnel in the open end of the hose. Carefully pour the luminol liquid into the hose until it fills up.
- 10
