How to Make Jeans That Are Too Short Longer
- 1). Take out the bottom leg seam with a seam ripper, using the sharp edge to break the threads.
- 2). Unroll the hem and iron the bottoms of the legs flat.
- 3). Cut off any tiny threads that are hanging on the bottom of the leg. Using the zig zag function of your sewing machine, sew around the ends of the legs of the jeans. This will prevent the bottoms from unraveling. Iron under the bottom third of the old hem.
- 4). Sew a new hem using the straight seam function of the sewing machine. Your jeans should be at least 1 inch longer.
