    Tin Can Crafts

    • For a simple craft, make a tin can herb pot. Use an empty tin can with holes punched in the bottom for drainage. Apply a coat of gesso to the outside; then decorate the can to your liking. Spray the finished can with an acrylic sealer. Place a layer of pebbles in the can followed by potting soil and then the herb. Tin can luminaries can also be made by using clean, empty tin cans filled with water and frozen. When the water has frozen, remove the can(s) from the freezer and use a hammer and nail to punch designs into the can. After the ice melts, dry the can and paint it to your liking.

    Tin Man Crafts

    • Tin Man crafts can also be made by fashioning empty tin cans of varying sizes and a funnel for the hat into the shape of the Tin Man from the "Wizard of Oz." A large juice size can is ideal for the body and smaller soup size cans can be used for the limbs. Join the cans together with wire. The completed project makes for a decorative outdoor hanging. For a children's craft, a Tin Man can also be fashioned from empty toilet paper rolls, construction paper and glue for use as an indoor-only hanging craft. Multiple toilet paper rolls can be used as the body and limbs of the tin man and fastened together so the limbs are movable.
