    Studio 54 Red Carpet Entrance

    • Studio 54 was one of the most famous and notorious New York discos during the era. Create a red carpet entrance to mimic this memorable club. Lay down a red carpet runner for each guest to walk and make a memorable entrance into the prom. Decorate the sides and perimeter of the red carpet runner with palms in planters, embellished and covered in glitter. Insert stakes into the planters with "Studio 54" graphics. As guests arrive and take their stroll down the red carpet, have them stop along the way to take photos. The lights from the glass, glitter and flashing camera lights will help to create a disco effect.

    Celebrity Prom Photo Cutouts

    • Make life-size cutouts of famous celebrities from the 1980s. The celebrity icons of the 1980s included Michael Jackson, Madonna, Farah Fawcett, John Travolta, Cher, Cyndi Lauper and even 1980s Barbie dolls. Let guests stop along the red carpet to have their pictures taken with cutouts of these icons. Create duplicates of the celebrity life-size, and stage areas within the main room to have prom attendees take picture alongside the cutouts. Make it even more fun by having the faces cut out so prom couples can have pictures taken as an '80s icon.

    TV Nation Decorations

    • Turn a standard centerpiece into one that's all about the 1980s. If the prom theme is based on dance, include graphics like disco balls and roller skates. If the theme is based on 1980s TV shows, include graphics and screen shots from shows like "Dallas," "Miami Vice," "The A-Team," and "The Cosby Show." You can create decorations easily and inexpensively with floral decorations by reprinting and resizing public domain photos from the Internet. Make cutouts to stage throughout the prom venue. Mount small pictures as floral picks to insert inside of table centerpieces.

    Gift Bag Table Toppers

    • Make each prom guest feel like a celebrity for the night. Place a gift bag at each table setting, or give them to attendees as they leave prom. Include funky, memorable items from the 1980s like Twizzlers licorice candy sticks, Pop Rocks, bubble gum and perfume samples from old school fragrances like Old Spice for men and Rive Gauche for women. Make magnets that can be attached to the sides of computers or on dry erase boards with the date of the prom, name of the school and the 1980s theme. Include a small brag book designed with the official prom theme logo on the cover for prom-goers to have signed by their friends as a keepsake.
