How to Enable Control Enter in an Address Bar
- 1). Launch Mozilla Firefox.
- 2). Type "about:config" into the address bar at the top of the screen, then press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. Be sure to omit the quotation marks. Note that there should be no other wording or letters included, not even "http://." About:config is an internal component of all versions of Firefox--it does not even require an Internet connection to adjust.
- 3). Click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button in the center of the screen.
- 4). Type "browser.fixup" into the "Filter" text box underneath the address bar.
- 5). Double click the "browser.fixup.alternate.enabled" item so that the value in the "Value" column says true.
- 6). Close the "about:config" tab. The "Ctrl" and "Enter" shortcut will be enabled immediately.
- 1). Click the "Start" or Windows button in the lower left corner of the screen, then click the "Run" button (Windows XP) or click in the "Search" bar (Vista or Windows 7).
- 2). Type "CONTROL INETCPL.CPL" (Windows XP) or "INETCPL.CPL" (Vista or Windows 7), then press the "Enter" key.
- 3). Click the "Content" tab, then select the "AutoComplete" button or the "Settings" button in the "AutoComplete" section.
- 4). Check the box next to "Web Addresses" or "Address Bar."
- 5). Click the "OK" button to close the "AutoComplete" window, then click the "OK" button to close the "Internet Options" window.
