How to Sketch Water
- 1). Use the tip of a sharp pencil to create a long, fluid line across a page of drawing paper. Draw light enough that the pencil can be easily erased and use as many strokes as you need to get across the paper. Since this is a sketch, the drawing will be much more generalized than a final draft, with less attention to major details.
- 2). Add a few wavy lines over the water itself to create individual crests or ripples.
- 3). Use the side of your pencil to shade the water in, pressing down harder closer to the original lines and gradually letting up as you move away from them so that the tone blends well.
- 4). Use an eraser to remove any stray or unwanted lines from the drawing.
