How to Clean Pantry Canisters

    • 1). Remove all of the pantry canisters from the pantry. While the pantry is empty, use a cleaning cloth to wipe the shelves clean of dust and crumbs.

    • 2). Begin to open each pantry canister and assess the contents of each canister. Make sure the food inside is still fresh and in edible condition. Discard any spoiled foods into the garbage bag.

    • 3). Pour the food out of several canisters into individual food-storage bags or bowls.

    • 4). Wash the empty canisters with dish washing soap. Rinse the canisters well and dry them completely. When the canisters are completely dry, replace the food back in the canisters and place the lids back on securely.

    • 5). Consider making labels for the contents of the canisters to help with pantry organization.

    • 6). Repeat Steps 2 through 5 until all of the canisters have been emptied, washed and dried, and the food replaced.

    • 7). Place the canisters back in the pantry. As you restock the pantry, you might reorganize the canisters to make sure that the foods in the canisters are located so that they are easily accessed and sensibly organized.
