A Roller Skating Party

You know, I'm actually surprised that there are still roller rinks around.
Thrilled, but surprised.
The more that roller skates are going the way of in-line skates, you'd almost think that the rinks would die out.
Nope.
So...
what a great idea this year for us to have a roller skating party for my daughter! You know how these things work, right? There's usually video games at the rink, with a huge, circular skating area for everyone to "get down" in.
Fast skaters, slow skaters, beginners, etc.
It doesn't matter at rinks, as there are all kinds.
One reason I love this idea is because there are usually sitting areas for the parents to get to know each other, complete with a concession stand for pizza, hot dogs, soda, etc.
There's almost always a DJ there, too, who takes requests.
There's all kinds of different music being played.
Call ahead at least a month or two before the actual birthday party and see what kinds of specials they have.
Try and get in before anyone else reserves the date so you can have your pick.
A lot of the time they'll give you a huge discount, depending on how many people show up.
They'll have the pizza ready at a certain time, along with cake.
The last thing I want to mention is how special the DJ makes your child feel; they'll announce over the loudspeaker that it's her birthday, give her a special song, etc.
That sort of thing is like being on television for a kid.
And don't worry about buying skates; you can rent them there!
