HP Pavilion Slimline S3027c Troubleshooting
- 1). Check power connections. The HP Slimline S3027c features a removable power cable that must be firmly connected to the back of the computer tower as well as a standard power outlet. Make sure both ends of the power cord are firmly plugged in and any power strips or surge protectors connected to the power cord are powered on.
- 2). Run routine maintenance. If your computer boots normally but is running at a slow pace, try running routine maintenance. In the "System Tools" menu, find the "Disk Defragement" and "Disk Cleanup" utility. Run these maintenance tools (one at a time) to improve speed and performance.
- 3). Reduce the amount of startup programs. If your computer boots but freezes during startup, there may be too many programs launching during the computer's startup process. To prevent programs from starting, press "Ctrl+Alt+Del" as soon as the desktop appears and close all nonessential processes. Then open the Start menu and delete programs from the "Startup" menu that do not need to be launched at startup.
- 4). Update your operating system. If you are experiencing a specific glitch, it may have been addressed in one of Windows Vista's many updates. To check for updates, go to the "Start" menu, select "Windows Updates" and when the window pops up, select "Change Update Settings." Choose the "Update automatically" option to check for updates. If an update is found, it will be installed automatically.
- 5). Check for hard drive errors. If you can get your computer to turn on, but can't access your content, you may have a problem with your hard drive. To check for errors, go to the Start menu and then click "Computer" and select "Properties" from the next screen. Then click on "Tools" and find the "Check for Hard Disk Errors" text. Click the "Check now" button. If an error is found, you will be directed with specific instructions on how to resolve the issue.
