Who Are Some Famous Juggalos?
Juggalos, or hardcore fans of the Detroit rap duo Insane Clown Posse, have been making increased appearances in the mainstream media lately. Much of this is due to the success of the Gathering of the Juggalos, Insane Clown Posse's annual summer underground rap music festival.
However, it's also because juggalos as a community continue to grow because, as a group, they're particularly welcoming and enthusiastic. In fact, more entertainers and celebrities are revealing themselves as juggalos, either because they started as fans of Insane Clown Posse and underground rap music, or because they found themselves drawn to the fans' supportive attitudes.
Here are some famous juggalos:
Vanilla Ice (rapper): Vanilla ice was a rap star in the early '90s while Insane Clown Posse was still largely only known in underground rap music circles. However, as time wore on and Vanilla Ice receded from the public eye, he struck up a friendship with Insane Clown Posse and began performing at their underground rap music festival, the Gathering of the Juggalos.
He has since announced he will be releasing his own new underground rap music on ICP's label, Psychopathic Records.
Kane Hodder (actor): He's best known as a horror actor who played Jason Voorhees in four films from the Friday the 13th series. Many Insane Clown Posse fans are huge horror movie fans, so they embraced him heartily.
He has happily become one of the juggalos, and even sports a custom Hatchetman logo charm with a Jason-style machete in place of the usual hatchet.
Chuck D (rapper): Chuck D is of course an underground rap music legend, who actually influenced Insane Clown Posse through his pioneering work with Public Enemy. However, Insane Clown Posse has toured with his group Concentration Camp, and they forged a friendship that has led Chuck D to identify with the juggalos.
Coolio (rapper): Coolio is another former mainstream star, like Vanilla Ice, who eventually returned to underground rap music circles. A tour with Insane Clown Posse proved to be a turning point for him when he received warm support from juggalos. He was so touched by the love from juggalo audiences that he even got a juggalo tattoo. He is now a fixture at the Gathering of the Juggalos.
Vampiro (wrestler): Vampiro was a long-established wrestling star, but his dark image appealed to many juggalos. After he fell out of the public eye, juggalos embraced him heartily, and he eventually even began wrestling for the Juggalo Championshit Wrestling promotion.
He has professed a love for Insane Clown Posse, underground rap music, and the juggalo family on his personal web sites and blogs.
