How to Repair Bamboo Roman Shades
- 1). Remove the blinds from the wall brackets, and lay them flat on a table.
- 2). Expose the knots that hold the cord and the string together at the top of the blinds by removing the clips that are on top of the knots.
- 3). Remove the lift cord if the string ladder--the string that allows the blinds to move up and down--is broken or twisted. The lift cord is what one pulls on to lift and lower the blinds. Pull the lift cord up over the two pulleys, one at a time. First pull down and then out.
- 4). Take the strings off of the tube that runs across the top of the blinds. Remove the strings from the bottom slat and then from the blind slats. Place a brand new string ladder back into the slats, and reattach the strings to the bottom of the blinds and the tube at the top, the same way you took the strings off, but in reverse order.
- 5). Place the lift cord back onto the pulley system in the opposite way you removed it. If the lift cord is the problem, do not worry about the string ladder; focus on the cord. After you have removed the damaged lift cords, you should place the new one back over the first pulley, and then the next, in the opposite manner in which you removed them.
- 6). Place the clips back on over the knots at the top of the blinds once your problem is fixed. Replace the blinds onto their brackets.
