How to Build a PVC Pipe Plant Rack
- 1). Cut eight pieces of pipe in 48-inch lengths using the hack saw.
- 2). Cut eight pieces of pipe to 21 1/16-inch lengths.
- 3). Cut eight pieces to 12 3/4-inch lengths.
- 4). Cut another eight pieces to 15 1/2-inch lengths.
- 5). Cut 16 pieces of pipe to 1 3/8-inch lengths.
- 6). Glue PVC tee connectors to both ends of each of the 48-inch lengths so that the middle part of the tee connector is glued to the end of the 48-inch pipe. Make sure that the tee connectors on both ends of each pipe are parallel.
- 7). Glue PVC tee connectors to both ends of each of the 21 1/16-inch pipes, again making sure that the connectors are parallel on the ends of each pipe.
- 8). Insert one end of the 1 3/8 inch pieces of pipe into one of the free ends of a tee connector attached to the long 48-inch pipes. Then, insert an elbow connector attached to one of the shorter 21 1/16-inch lengths onto the other end. Now you have two sides of a four-sided rectangular shelf frame. Repeat the process to create a full four-sided shelf shelf frame. Construct four shelf frames in this manner.
- 9). Use the eight 15 1/2-inch lengths of pipe to connect the bottom two shelf frames via the downward and upward facing tee connectors at each corner.

Use the eight 12 3/4-inch lengths of pipe to connect the bottom two shelf frames via the downward and upward facing tee connectors at each corner. - 11
Drill three holes in each long side and one hole on each short side of each shelf, then drill a corresponding hole on the long and short sides of each piece of plywood. Use a drill bit that is slightly thinner than your wood screws. - 12
Connect the plywood to the top of each shelf with wood screws.
