    Tips on Making Fabric-Lined Baskets

    • 1). Choose your baskets you'd like to line. You can usually pick up baskets inexpensively at your local dollar or craft stores.

    • 2). Measure the inside area of the basket so you'll be able to purchase enough fabric for the lining. Remember to add several inches to your measurements to allow for the area to be turned under and glued. You'll also need a hot glue gun.

    • 3). Cut your fabric to the desired size to fit inside the basket. Turn the glue gun on and allow it to heat up while you are cutting. It's easier to work with glue that's fully heated up.

    • 4). Lay your fabric inside the basket to get an idea of how much you'll need to fold over toward the inside. This may take several tries to get the fabric to lay just right. You can iron the edges down so they'll lay flatter inside the basket. Once you've figured out how much to fold under, you can start gluing.

    • 5). Use your glue gun and run an edge of hot glue around the upper inside of the basket. Carefully place your fabric piece inside the basket. Make sure to catch the edge of the fabric to the hot glued area of the basket, so it will stick. Add more glue if needed. Allow your glue to dry and your fabric-lined basket is now ready for use.
