How to Refill an HP C6655A Printer Cartridge
- 1). Buy the proper ink for the HP printer cartridge. You can buy black and color ink for HP cartridges from online ink retailers.
- 2). Cover the space where you plan to refill the cartridge and cover your hands and clothing. Printer ink will stain any surface with which it comes into contact.
- 3). Locate the gap on the cartridge where the plastic meets. Wedge a knife with a thin blade into this gap and pry gently to pull the sides of the cartridge apart to view the inside of the cartridge. OddParts recommends slicing the label on the cartridge open first to make this process easier.
- 4). Find the hole that is directly next to the rubber piece on the inside of the cartridge. The hole contains a ball that keeps the ink in. Jab the ball with the knife if it has a narrow point, or use a sewing pin to jab the ball. Pull back slowly to remove it from the ink hole.
- 5). Snap the needle onto the syringe, put the tip of the syringe in the ink and pull back on the plunger to fill the syringe. You should fill the syringe with approximately 30 milliliters of ink, according to Odd Parts.
- 6). Stick the needle on the syringe into the hole from which you removed the ball only about 1/4 of an inch and press the plunger to transfer the ink to the cartridge. Once all of the ink has been injected, or ink begins to spill out the top indicating that the cartridge is full, pull back on the plunger until 1 milliliter of ink comes back out of the cartridge into the plunger. This removes air bubbles from the ink.
- 7). Press the ball that you removed from the ink hole back into place. With the ball in place, hold the cartridge upside down and squeeze gently to make sure the cartridge isn't leaking. Once you check for leaks, press the pieces of the cartridge back together until they snap into place.
