How to Draw Cartoon Animals for Kids
- 1). Draw an oval in the center of your paper. This shape serves as the basis for the dog's head, so draw it according to how large or small you want your final product to be. Draw another oval, about half the size of the first, over the bottom line of the big oval. Erase the overlapping line to create the dog's snout.
- 2). Add a circle on top of the snout to create the nose, then erasing the overlapping line. Draw two large side-by-side ovals over the snout to make the cartoonish eyes of the dog. Don't forget to add the pupils.
- 3). Draw two half-oval shapes on either side of the head to make the ears. Draw an oval, larger than the others, underneath the head to make the body. Draw two elongated U shapes to the front of the body to make the front legs, again erasing the overlapping lines.
- 4). Add two half circles on either side of the body, then draw two sideways ovals underneath them. Erase the overlapping lines to flesh out the dog's hind legs. Draw the tail however you wish over one of the hind legs, then trace your drawing in black ink to make your art stand out on the page.
- 1). Draw an oval in the same manner as you did for the dog. Add a circle near the bottom of the oval to make the cat's snout, but don't overlap the shapes like you did for the dog. Add an upside-down triangle in the top middle of the snout to make the nose.
- 2). Add an upside-down "Y" underneath the nose to make the mouth, then draw three wispy lines on either side of the nose to make the whiskers. Draw the eyes in the same manner as you did for the dog. Add two triangular shapes on top of the head to make the ears.
- 3). Draw an elongated oval underneath the head to make the cat's body. Add two thinner side-by-side "U" shapes to make the cat's front legs. Draw two half-circles on either side of the bottom sides of the body to make the hind legs, then draw two flattened ovals underneath the hind legs to make the feet. Draw the cat's tail in the same manner as you did for the dog. Trace your cat in black ink to make it stand out on the page.
