Plan a Successful Jewelry Party

Determine a date at least two weeks away to host a jewelry show. You need to send out invitations no later than two weeks before the event to increase the chance that attendees will be available. Include specific directions to the party site and the types of credit cards (if any) that are accepted.

Make a list of potential guests. Plan for a minimum of 10 guests, but aim as high as you can accommodate.

Send invitations to twice as many people as you expect to attend. The average jewelry party consists of about half the number of people invited. The more you invite, the better your chances are for having a lucrative party.

Inform your guests they are welcome to bring a friend. By doing so, you're likely to get a better response and higher attendance. Many home jewelry companies offer bonus gifts for those who bring a guest.

Follow up your sent invitations with a phone call. This is the only way to know for sure that your invitation was received. It will also give you an opportunity to make the invitation personal and highlight any bonuses.

Increase your chances of earning more jewelry as a host by including a catalog with the invitation. This will allow guests who are unable to attend the party to place an order, thus adding to your bottom line.

Provide a comfortable space for guests to mingle before and after the jewelry show. Building relationships adds to the potential for booking more parties from your show.

Provide a well-lit area with room for the consultant to display the jewelry. Leave enough room around the displays for guests to move around comfortably as they try on different pieces of jewelry.
