Video: How to Create the Quilting Effect on Fondant
Video Transcript
Hi, my name is Porsha Kimble home baker and custom cake decorator, and they call me the Cake Diva, and today I'm going to demonstrate how to do the quilting effect on fondant. I'm going to use my diamond shaped cookie cutter to create the quilting effect on to my fondant. You can also use a diamond cutter on butter cream but I highly suggest that you wait for the butter cream to be crusted over and not use it when it's not freshly put on top of the cake. I have my diamond cutter here. I'm going to press this up against fresh fondant that has been applied to the cake. I've firmly pressed in and now I have that diamond look. Now when you do the next diamond to connect you want to make sure that it's aligned and even. I'm going to place my third diamond here and now you can start to see how the pattern is becoming complete. If you want to get fancy and maybe do a few extra diamonds get yourself a diamond cutter set and as you can see they come in different sizes. I'm going to take my small diamond cutter and place it right in the center of where the other two diamonds connected and how I have a double quilting look. I'm Porsha Kimble the Cake Diva, and today I demonstrated how to do the quilting effect on your fondant.
