    Introduction

    • "TV Ears" is the brand name of a wireless personal listening system for use with a television. It allows you to listen to your program at the volume you prefer without disturbing others, allowing you to mute the television speakers for private listening. The wireless feature is an added convenience and eliminates unsightly wires snaking from the television to your headphones.

    Wireless Transmission

    • "TV Ears" uses 95 kHz infrared technology to transmit the audio stream of your program to your headphones. The transmitter converts the sound from your television to infrared light and sends it to your headset. The headset receives the infrared signal and converts it back into sound.

    Amplification

    • "TV Ears" offers several models. The "TV Ears 2.3 MHz" model has an amplifier that is appropriate for people with mild to moderate hearing loss.

The "Original," "Professional" and "Home Theatre" models are designed for people with moderate to severe hearing loss. These powerful models can provide up to 120 decibels of amplification, which is adequate for very poor hearing. These models also feature "Automatic Commercial Control," which automatically decreases the volume of commercials to reduce volume peaks.

    Controls

    • All the models offered have volume and tone controls that allow you to adjust the loudness, as well as the bass and treble.

The left and right sound balance can be adjusted with a balance control on all models except for the "TV Ears 2.3 MHz."

    Speech Enhancement

    • The "TV Ears" technology has features to help improve the clarity of speech. The "TV Ears 2.3 MHz" model has "Voice Clarifying Circuitry," which adjusts high frequency sounds to make speech easier to understand.

The other models have "Voice Enhancement Technology" to improve the clarity of dialog while reducing background noise and music in the television program. This is accomplished by automatically decreasing the low frequencies in music and noise while boosting high frequency consonants.

    Headphone Design

    • The "TV Ears" headphone hangs under your chin instead of resting on the top of your head like traditional headphones. The earpieces are made of soft tips for comfort and help reduce room noise.
