You have probably heard that homemade heartburn remedies are one of the fastest growing alternative treatments for acid reflux.
But what foods are people eating to cure their GERD? In this article, we will look what could be causing your heartburn and some common and effective foods and drinks that could help cure it.
Curing Acid Reflux Naturally Are you one of the thousands of people who gave up on antacids? Antacids will temporally work for your symptoms.
But if you consistently suffer from GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease), you will notice the antacids slowly not working.
In fact, hundreds of my customers were once antacid junkies who eventually got sick of heartburn ruining their lives.
My dad was one of them.
And all of them found that homemade heartburn remedies were the easiest and most effective way to cure the disease.
The reason why curing acid reflux naturally is so effective is because it cures the cause of heartburn and not just the symptoms.
With the right diet and lifestyle, you can cure the cause of GERD which is most commonly a weak lower esophageal sphincter (LES).
The LES sits atop your stomach and is the muscle responsible for keeping stomach acid in your stomach and not your esophagus.
Here are some helpful tips to cure GERD at home.
Homemade Heartburn Remedies 1.
Eating softer foods for a few days to start your remedy is always a great idea.
Hard crunchy foods like granola bars and cereals can leave little tears in a weak LES.
You should try to find softer foods that are very easily digestible.
2.
It is also helpful to go on a water-only diet.
Avoid all other beverages expect aloe vera juice (see below).
Avoid coffee and soft drinks as well because the acid can also do more damage to your already weak sphincter.
Drink at least 100 ounces a day and especially after every meal or snack.
3.
You can now focus on healing the sphincter by drinking aloe vera juice.
Aloe vera is a plant that has numerous miraculous powers.
For heartburn, aloe vera has been shown to heal tissue.
And since heartburn is caused by a weakened sphincter tissue, it only makes sense that this beverage should be your second drink of choice.
4.
You should also be eating at least 3 tablespoons of honey a day.
Honey is also a natural remedy to repair damaged tissue.
Make sure to have a tablespoon of honey right before bed to get healing benefits through the night.
5.
My grandparent took swigs of apple cider vinegar and swore by the stuff.
But research is showing that taking a swig of quality apple cider vinegar can actually put more acid in the stomach to help with digestion.
You will then experience less attacks.
Though the taste is horrible, the benefits could outweigh the taste.
