How the Government Promotes Obesity and Heart Disease

Sure, the government may be doing what it can to get the economy moving again.
Unfortunately, it's not doing enough for the people's health.
In fact, many of the health "wisdom" it promotes actually promotes heart disease and obesity! Here's a brief history on why this is so.
Since the Food Guide Pyramid was established in 1980, our increased intake of grains and carbohydrates resulted in a massive skyrocketing of obesity and heart disease rates.
Many people, scientists among them, blamed carbohydrates -- while the government redirected the blame to fat.
But as more and more studies suggested that carbohydrates (and not fat) were indeed causing more and more people to die of heart attacks, the US Surgeon General's office embarked on the ultimate study to finally prove the link between fat and heart disease.
That was in 1988.
Eleven long years later, in 1999, the study was abandoned.
The Surgeon General's office claimed that they did not have the "additional expertise and staff resources" required to continue.
Seriously? More than a decade of work has already been done, and they didn't have the resources to finish? I'm inclined to believe they simply didn't get the conclusions they were hoping for.
Many smaller studies have been made to link fat and heart disease, but virtually every one has been discontinued or inconclusive.
The researchers say "they didn't lower the saturated fat intake enough," or that "the study didn't last long enough.
" But they're slow to admit that the entire theory that fat causes heart disease might actually be WRONG in the first place! While we're waiting for the government to recant its campaign to promote obesity and heart disease, let's get started in our own homes.
Let's eat much less refined carbohydrates and sugar, switch to an organic plant-based diet, choose free-range meat and wild fish, and take omega-3 fish oil supplements.
